HEBREW & OLD TESTAMENT DEPARTMENT

OLD TESTAMENT - LANGUAGE (HEB 1)

Description
Elementary Hebrew

This is the Introductory course in elementary Biblical Hebrew language which is a normal requirement prior to entry into the two-year course of theological studies in the Old Testament.

The purpose of this Introductory course is to give to the student a good working knowledge of elementary Hebrew so that he may then progress to using that knowledge in interacting with the original text. The ultimate aim of the course is twofold; firstly, to provide preachers of the Gospel with the necessary tools to engage with the original text in sermon preparation and, secondly, to stir-up a lifelong interest in the original written language that the LORD employed in addressing the people of God.

The course is based on J. Weingreen's "A Practical Grammar For Classical Hebrew" a copy of which can be found on this site. However, a daily one-hour lesson three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) throughout the Session will be given by virtual classroom to assist students through the coursework.
